Massaro's Gear Repair is a New York State Certified Woman-Owned Small Business that specializes in both cleaning and repair of firefighter’s turnout clothing, as well as the manufacturing of custom rope and tool bags.

Remember:  A firefighter’s safety is only as reliable as his/her turnout clothing.  The current NFPA guidelines recommend cleaning turnout clothing every six months or as needed.  It is the responsibility of both the Fire Department and the individual to ensure that the turnout clothing is kept clean and well maintained.

It is also important to remember that ordinary household washing machines do not have the power to completely clean and rinse all of the detergent residue from your turnout clothing.  This residue can build up and affect the performance of the turnout clothing, thereby increasing the risk of injury to the firefighter.  Whether you perform the cleaning yourself, or contract with a business, make sure that a washer capable of handling this material is used.  If you are unsure, ask!  Click the link below to go to our Cleaning capabilities page.

Your turnout clothing should be treated like any other piece of rescue equipment. It needs to be inspected periodically, with all required repairs made to maintain its effectiveness. We guarantee that all of our repairs meet or exceed NFPA standards. At Massaro's Gear Repair, our capabilities go beyond simple patching and stitching repairs.
